They call me Stixx because I play with matches, and when I find who took my forever, there won’t be anything to recover, or anyone to save my soul.

Even though Lucy doesn’t know I exist, from the moment I see her, I give her the heaven she deserves after the hell she’s been through. I cremate her abusive ex so we can meet, and she thanks me with the privilege of devouring her. She tells me she’s pregnant by her ex, and I promise she’s my wife and that’s my baby now. She asks me to take control, and I command her body the way I do fire.

I breathe oxygen into her twisted scorched pieces, and she warms the cold empty hole I’ve been carrying since losing my family. She dances with me in the garden we grow in the ashes and, for the first time, I dare to believe life can be beautiful.
